“It was so weird…” – Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Open Up About Their Experience While Filming Welcome to Wrexham

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are amongst some of the most renowned actors in Hollywood today. However, over the past few months, it has become impossible to not name the two of them together. Ever since the two actors came together as the owners of Wrexham AFC, their popularity has skyrocketed. As we all know, both the actors documented their run in the documentary series, Welcome To Wrexham. While we are all aware of how popular and loved the show was amongst the fans, the actors had a tough time when they first started.

We are no strangers to the incredible run Wrexham has had ever since Reynolds and McElhenney took over. Not only did they help the club achieve its dream of nearly 20 years, they even became the fan favorite club owners. Furthermore, in their series Welcome To Wrexham, the duo did a great job of connecting with the locals throughout the series. However, as surprising as it may sound, it was not an easy task for the actors. And recently, during their interview with Variety, the two actors shed some light on the same. While talking about their initial experience of filming the series, Reynolds revealed, “It was so weird.

The Deadpool actor further admitted how they were clueless when they first started, and all they knew was that their hearts were in the right place. However, Reynolds continued that things started to slowly fall into place for them. It was not long before the Wrexham people became more welcoming. They started embracing the cameras around them, realizing how it helped communicate their stories to the world.

On the other hand, McElhenney seemed to be a little calm about it. The sitcom star spoke about how Reynolds clearly was uncomfortable from the very beginning. Elsewhere, he explained how following the release of the first episode and the response of the people put him at ease. So it makes sense many are anticipating the second season’s release.

We are no strangers to the popularity season one of Welcome to Wrexham gained. The sports documentary series took the world by storm, becoming incredibly popular. Owing to the good response from the viewers, the series will renew for a second season. As of late, the second season is yet to get a release date and will probably grace our screens later in 2023.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Wrexham will be playing a number of pre-season friendlies. As the Red Dragons gear up for their return to League 2, after nearly 20 years they will be facing a tough challenge during the summer transfers.
