Muscles, fierce explosions, catchphrases, and a breed of hot-headed actors defined the era of the early 70s and 80s Hollywood action movies. During the birth of such a revolution, leading from the front was Arnold Schwarzenegger. Boasting a catalog of movies and commanding every scene he starred in, the actor became one with action. Amid his surging popularity, several movies and sketches aired based on him, including the popular Saturday Night Live sketch comedy featuring Hans and Franz.

Furthermore, the reception of the sketch itself was so beloved that a movie based on it was penned down. However, it never saw the light of the day. Now, Schwarzenegger recently recalled it, revealing his thoughts on the same.

At a time when Arnold Schwarzenegger basked in his fame off the flames of action, Conan O’Brien, Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon, and Robert Smigel wrote a script directly based on him. Featuring the actors from the Saturday Night Live sketch, a working script for Hans & Franz: The Girlyman Dilemma was ready. Although it never made it past it, the FUBAR star in his latest appearance on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast wished “I really hope they do it. You still can do it.”

Originally conceived to portray Hans and Franz as the supposed Austrian cousins of the bodybuilding legend in a mockumentary, the script ballooned and called for a full-fledged involvement of the Austrian Oak. However, owing to his busy schedule, the star had to drop out of it. However, in the same podcast, Schwarzenegger also approved the script saying, “It was so funny.” Perhaps, Schwarzenegger may actually participate in the movie this time around!

A legacy in action so deep that even Netflix had to bow down and honor Schwarzenegger as its Chief Action Officer. After landing humbly in his 76th year of life with his pets, the star is not pulling his punches when it comes to action. Following a brief hiatus, the ex-governor of California recently made an acting comeback with two Netflix ventures: An action comedy, FUBAR as well as a self-documentary, Arnold. Remarkably, both of them became Netflix hits and further cemented the star’s legacy.

Moreover, both of his Netflix productions are green-lit for another season and are at varying stages of production. Alongside streaming content, the actor is also starring in Kung Fury 2, which gets high on action. Following it, Breakout, Triplets, and The Legend of Conan are also on his plate. Thus, whether the legend is actually starring in a Hans and Franz movie may not be that certain, but he is for sure not running out of gas anytime soon.
