“It is not an…” – ‘Deadpool 3’ Director Shawn Levy Spills the Beans on His “very thrilling” Upcoming ‘Star Wars’ Movie
One of the most interesting aspects of Hollywood lies in its variety. The multi-billion dollar industry thrives on creativity and bringing to life a plethora of subjects and themes that once only existed in paper and prints. A soulful marriage of action, comedy, and stunning visuals birthed the sci-fi genre. Over years of refinement and story-telling, it itself became the cradle for a host of springing franchises. Now, bridging two such behemoths is Shawn Levy, with Deadpool 3 and an unnamed Star Wars project.
As high profile as it is, details of the director’s Marvel project are wide and known. However, he recently shed light on what fans can expect from his other outing.

It has been long since any Star Wars content graced the big screens. While shows such as The Mandalorian and Andor have kept the franchise alive and kicking, nearly six years have passed since the last canon movie. Coming in to revitalize the franchise amidst the massively divisive 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Shawn Levy feels working on his project to be “very thrilling”. In talks with Josh Horowitz, the Deadpool 3 director summarized that “it’s a blast and every day just cooking up ideas.”
Announced in 2022, Levy’s movie is in the early stages of production. The only ‘big reveal’ coming from the Stranger Things producer for his upcoming Star Wars project was that “It is not an Ewok origin story.” Moreover, he also emphasized his dedication to bringing his element of fun while being respectful of the story. Finally, Levy laughed it off on being asked about Ryan Reynolds or Hugh Jackman’s chances of appearing as a Jedi.
Meanwhile, the director’s arguably most anticipated project on the slate is having a hard time fixing its dates.
Deadpool 3 likely to miss its 2024 summer release date
The moment Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds appeared in their MCU-touched comic-accurate costumes, the Internet went berserk. Amid rabid hype for the movie, its production still lingers in limbo owing to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Initially slated for a September 2024 release, the project moved up to May 3, 2024. However, recent listings from Marvel Studios have dropped the movie’s mention which is now likely to be overtaken by Captain America 4.

Ironically, for a movie whose production stalled midway, it boasts a massive line-up of stars. Emma Corrin, Karan Soni, and Morena Baccarin, among all the original Fox X-Men characters, are slated to appear. Deadpool 3 also teeters on the prospect of the multiverse thus, it is likely for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and the TVA to appear alongside as well.
