Ben Foster’s signing to Wrexham was perhaps one of the most celebrated moments of the club in 2022. At the same time, his retirement has also left the Welsh side in shambles. Reports by Goal suggest that the former Manchester United keeper announced his retirement as he feels he can no longer compete at the National League Level. Shortly after the news surfaced, the Wrexham captain had a few things to say about Foster’s retirement. He revealed that the decision was a huge shocker for him and the team.
Young added how he was not expecting Foster to retire anytime soon. However, the skipper praised the legendary keeper for being honest and admitted that his retirement proved how great of a man he is. Recalling his favorite save by Foster, Young spoke, “I won’t forget him, and who will ever forget that penalty save against Notts County?”
Meanwhile, Foster was surely struggling in the past few games. Wrexham fans even called out the keeper following their thriller match against Swindon Town, in which he conceded four goals in halftime. However, the keeper’s efforts for the team did not go unthanked.
