How Ryan Reynolds Was Once Ready to Learn Hebrew for Gal Gadot
Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, despite being iconic superheroes in their standalone franchises, found themselves in the same foxhole in 2021 while tackling nefarious thieves – not in real life, but on the action-packed set of Rawson Marshall Thurber’s Red Notice. The synergy between the two was not just a flash in the pan. It extended well past the movie’s final cut, with Reynolds even expressing a desire to broaden his linguistic horizons by learning Hebrew, just for Gal Gadot.
Ryan Reynolds, already proficient in English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Irish, sought to extend a gesture of cultural appreciation towards his Israeli co-star in response to her birthday wish.

While shooting Red Notice in Atlanta with Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot shared a photo of the main cast and director Rawson Marshall Thurber. She mentioned the photo was taken when the director was giving a big speech for Reynolds’ birthday, just before they all started singing birthday songs in Hebrew while enjoying gin and tequila. But, in the next line, she made it clear that it was all just a joke.
In response to the post, Reynolds commented saying, “I’m willing to learn Hebrew. And tequila.” This was not the first time fans saw the director talking to the cast in a photo. There have been quite a few behind-the-scenes glimpses of the cast during the pandemic. Gal Gadot also brought this camaraderie to Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, and utilized their wealth of knowledge for her business.
The actress once expressed her gratitude towards the couple for helping her become the wonder woman in the business world.

Gal Gadot is part of the team that started the new mac and cheese brand, Goodles. Before becoming a brand ambassador and entrepreneur, she picked up some lessons from her Red Notice co-star Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively. She shared with E! News in 2022 that “Ryan and Blake are both really smart entrepreneurs.” Gadot described them as “great friends, good people, positive people”.
The actress then went on to say how Reynolds shared everything that takes to be a good entrepreneur and “the process he’s been through”. Despite being in different places, Gadot and Reynolds find time to be together. Their kids are great friends, too. Lively also supported Gadot’s new brand on social media, and the Heart of Stone actress was super excited about it. Knowing this, it is no wonder Reynolds wanted to pick up Gadot’s language, all in the name of deepening his bond with her.
