This year has been marked with shedding roles, but a fresh array of upcoming movies for Henry Cavill. Just a month ago, the last days of July marked the ending of season 3 volume 2 of The Witcher. Not only did he hang up his Witcher sword, but the British actor also left his red cape behind. After anticipation of who would play Superman after the James Gunn takeover, fans were met with another disappointment. The studios had dropped Cavill as a choice, to find another suitable younger hero. Superman: Legacy with no legacy of the reigning Superman hero.

But it seems like the Enola Holmes actor is done with playing legacy sagas. In his new Cavill era, the actor is all ready to star in roles in a genre we have seldom seen him in. Though Guy Ritchie seems to be making the most out of Cavill’s free schedule, the actor is stepping out of his box. The British actor will tread into genres that his fans have not seen him in the past. Though some of them have action sequences, the type of fighting or weapon use involved is different from fantasy-based drama shows.
1. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
The action spy film is the first of a kind that the actor will be starring in. A Ritchie-directed movie, it is based on the novel Churchill’s Secret Warriors: The Explosive True Story of the Special Forces Desperadoes of WWII. The cast alongside the British actor involves the After franchise’s Hero Fiennes Tiffin, his namesake Henry Zaga, and others. The Night Hunter actor even hinted at the film’s principal photography pictures of this Lionsgate film, set to release in 2024.
2. Cipher Conundrum
Just months after the English actor teased his fans with a brown-scaled picture from the sets of The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, it was reported that The Witcher actor would be playing a con man in a heist movie. Titled Cipher Conundrum, there have not been any official updates yet. Another Ritchie collaboration, this Universal Pictures feature, will be a mission-based high-stakes heist.
3. Unnamed Project
Ritchie doesn’t stop here with the Justice League actor. On what is supposed to be the 4th collaboration, after 2015’s Man from U.N.C.L.E. and the above-mentioned projects, there is an unnamed movie in the works too. Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza González are joining the Immortals actor for both this project and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The two males will probably play the “extraction specialists” and González the “high-level female negotiator” as reported by Deadline.
4. Argylle
In another jump far away from the fantasy genre, the Man of Steel actor is playing in a spy action thriller who is on a “globe-trotting” adventure across exotic locations. Directed by Matthew Vaughn, Argylle will be available on Apple TV+ on February 2, 2024. Other stars like Barbie’s ‘Dance The Night’ singer Dua Lipa, James Bond actress Haruka Oshnima, and WWE wrestler John Cena are among others in the cast.
