After months of speculation, The Sun revealed yesterday that the producers are eyeing a certain Academy Award nominee to play James Bond now. Apparently, the next flick in the franchise will have not one but two bonds in different age categories. So, for the young 007, the bosses are currently considering Paul Mesacal of Normal People fame. Well, Ana de Armas, who is a Bond luminaire herself also picked him out once too!
Just two months ago, the producers had confessed not having begun casting for the project. However, it seems like the Irish actor’s new Oscar nomination and BAFTA win for Aftersun have caught their attention. In fact, at the mere age of 24, Mescal had landed an Emmy nomination for Normal People too. So, it seems like he could be the perfect candidate to play young Bond as a 27-year-old now.
This could mean that Henry Cavill is still in the running for the role of his older version.

Despite the recent update of Mescal’s consideration for the role, no news has yet emerged of the producers bringing in Cavill. Although he is a top pick amongst audiences, there are many other contenders that could stand in his way. From Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Regé-Jean Page
various big names are still being bounced around as possible competition for The Witcher actor.
Regardless of that, fans are mostly rallying for the Man of Steel to take on the role. Well, he did audition for the role alongside Daniel Craig for Casino Royale. If the earlier rejection does not deter him, it is possible that he may extend some efforts to land the spy franchise’s central character’s role. Now, as a 40-year-old, he is the perfect age to play an older Bond too!
