Recently, Marvel shared an exciting glimpse into the second season of their animated series, What If. It showed fans that Nebula, Happy Hogan, and more previously seen characters would be making a comeback. However, it took an eerie turn as the Watcher explained how things were different. Although there was no confirmation, the scene seemed to hint at a similarity to Deadpool 3.
Does What If Season 2 plan to go down the Deadpool 3 route?
In the trailer of What If Season 2, Jeffrey Wright said, “Things have gotten a little twisted,” before the clip turned to him watching over the multiverses as seen in the first season. While it stayed on screen for a brief moment, the scene left fans confused over what it meant. Although it promised fans another journey through the multiverse, it also suggested a subtle connection to Deadpool 3. Apart from noticing all the old and new faces to be gracing the television series, fans also noticed the similarities in another theory.
With Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming film set to revive Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to team up, fans could not help but wonder if the Merc with a Mouth could make a quick stop in the animated series. While that could be rather unlikely, it was the various multiverse theories that continued to grab attention. It may have first picked up with Loki’s foray into the television series world, but it looks like it has since caught on. While there were no other hints to prove the Deadpool 3 theory, it could end up showing fans just how bad things can get with multiverses break.
With the series’ release only a month away, the fan theories of what could potentially happen have made their way online. While some of them do not completely add up, there is one thing we know for sure. A broken multiverse will only end in more chaos.
What If Season 1 finale to pave the way for Season 2
In the final episode of What If Season 1, viewers watched as Ultron began a mission to destroy the multiverse. Although he ultimately ended up being trapped while battling with Killmonger by Strange Supreme, with the sorcerer grieving, there is no saying what could end up happening. Although everything ended in a sweet spot, there is the possibility that Benedict Cumberbatch’s character could just snap and let the villains’ battle for the Infinity Stones continue. With the season finale ending on somewhat of a cliffhanger, season 2 holds a lot of promise and mystery with its stories.
However, if Marvel Studios plans to go ahead with the storyline of a broken multiverse, there will be a lot of chaos that ensues. While dropping that boundary could be fun to watch, it would also bring about incursion, which would destroy each universe as they collide. With a storyline like that, it is no wonder that the hype for the upcoming season is already through the roof. Thankfully, Marvel fans will not have to wait too long for the series, as it is set to release in a little over a month.
With the countdown for What If Season 2’s release already starting, Marvel has planned to turn their animated series into their version of ’12 Days of Christmas’.
When will What If Season 2 release?
Once Marvel dropped the first trailer of What If Season 2, fans of the animated series lost their mind. However, that was not the only surprise that was in store. While the episodes usually come out on Disney + weekly, with the holiday season around the corner, they had planned to go a different way. From December 22 to December 30, 2023, an episode will be aired every day in celebration of the Christmas season. While it might be their way of having the world get into the festive spirit, even the trailer and posters featured a Santa hat or another item.
