The Barbie vs Oppenheimer phenomenon has proved the power that Mattel holds over its fans. Owing to that, they plan to make a movie on another doll from their production line. Lily Collins will star in their next movie titled Polly Pocket. Lena Dunham will write and direct the movie. About the casting decision, producer Robbie Brenner revealed to Variety, “Lily is so smart and so specific and so productorial.” He is overjoyed to be working with both women and has high hopes.
As per him, the team has already submitted a script. We have seen the doll being produced since the 1980s. Although it may not be as popular as Barbie globally, this doll is known for going on adventures despite being called too little by the world. We can expect some fun adventures from the character just like Collins played in her Emily in Paris series.
Mattel has some large plans to expand and mint money by exploring its characters. Each could have its own movie from a different point and plot.

There are dozens of characters for Mattel to choose from. In fact, there are reports of the company working on 14 films all at different stages. Polly Pocket, View-Master, American Girl, and UNO are just some of them. Actors like Vin Diesel and Tom Hanks are also said to be joining the plastic universe. All thanks to the Kens and Barbies for giving Mattel to bring their own universe on screen.
As for Barbie, Gerwig was asked whether a sequel is queued up. She did not deny the possibility but stated that no production is in her mind right now. More updates on Polly Pocket will come through time and maybe other Mattel dolls will join the journey too!
