Did Ryan Reynolds Lead to Double Firing in Alpine Formula 1 Team?
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney tasted splendid success with their first investment in a sports club as Wrexham AFC won the National League title. However, it was not just them who benefitted from this. The Welsh club had long been collecting dust and with the arrival of Reynolds and McElhenney on board, it took a u-turn from its downfall. Once doubted to even become investors for Wrexham AFC, the club owners’ multi-million dollar investment, and revamping techniques, are welcomed by the entirety of sports. Especially by the Alpine F1 team looking to make it to the top.
The Wrexham owners have secured a good half of Alpine’s ownership in a splendid deal. And while news of their investment did make the rounds, it was not until the team announced a double firing that the change of owners became clear. After the debacle at the Belgian Grand Prix 2023, the race team fired two experienced men holding high positions, as per talkSport.
The Alpine F1 team is breaking ties with its team principal and sporting director. The team principal spot was held by Otmar Szafnauer, who has worked with the team for quite a while. Similarly, the sporting director, Alan Permane, who has worked thirty-four years at Enstone, was also deprived of his position in this double firing.

It was not until recently that it was revealed that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have brought major stakes in Alpine. Up until now, with the Deadpool actor’s frequent visits to the Ottawa Senators’ games, fans were sure that he had his eyes on the hockey team. While that may still be true, Reynolds has followed McElhenney into yet another multi-million dollar investment. But that does not mean that the two had a say in the recent firings that took place at Alpine.
As per the statement, the decision seems to be a direct outcome of the team’s failure at the Belgian Grand Prix. But such revamping is not farfetched for the Wrexham AFC owners who are afraid of making tough choices for the team’s betterment.
