In Las Vegas, as Blake Lively cheered alongside Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, coupled with Hugh Jackman dropped the mother of all hype with the first teaser trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine. With the first-ever pair-up of the characters happening in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine and ending in infamous disappointment, the latest drop satiated a fraction of decades of pent-up fans’ anticipation. Interestingly, the Marvel juggernaut has already begun its steamroll and shows no signs of slowing down.

In a roaring prediction of the incoming box office numbers for Marvel Studios, the flick has already started clocking in the digits.

The Super Bowl and Marvel Studios dropping teasers and spots have remained synonymous for quite some time now. The production behemoth has opted for that crucial window for several of its key projects, including the $2.79 billion grossing Avengers: Endgame. However, the 2-minute and 25-second first teaser trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped during the Super Bowl LVIII has gone on to become the most-viewed movie teaser of all time with over a staggering 365 million views within the first 24 hours.

The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman R-rated starrer displaced the studios’ own Spider-Man: No Way Home’s first trailer from August 2021 at 355.5 million views. The sheer numbers overshadowed nearly every other project showcased during the big game with respect to viewership. Furthermore, the associated banter kick-started by the lead actor on his social media handles also fanned the hype significantly, with it still dominating the trending sections.

Despite SAG-AFTRA strikes halting productions midway, the upcoming flick managed to stay on course with minute delays. However, the journey from start to finish came across as challenging at times. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman had appealed to fans and pages to not spread Deadpool & Wolverine leaks. While the message did work for the most part, a few key scenes from the trailer, such as Wolverine’s return as well as the 21st Century Fox logo, had already buzzed on social media months before.

Regardless, Marvel Studios decided to up the ante by playing coy about the leaks. While dropping mild hints, the trailer never explicitly brought Hugh Jackman to the front. Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds won over fans with his trademark satirical humor and unhinged action on full display throughout the length of the clip.
