Days After Ben Foster’s Farewell, Ryan Reynolds Welcomes a New Star Player in Wrexham AFC
That Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have managed to blow off the ‘antique’ sticker on Wrexham AFC since their investment in 2020 has now become a fact well known. It is also common knowledge that the owners believe the club is a sleeping giant and ultimately an EFL champion in the making. But what often goes unnoticed is that every time Reynolds utters the words “Welcome to Wrexham,” he is, in fact, etching his name into football history. While Welcome to Wrexham Season 2 still has some time till its premiere, the owner has already said the three magic words, ushering in a new chapter for the club.
Now that Wrexham AFC is playing in League Two after nearly a decade, the owners are celebrating every goal, but they are also making reimbursements for every loss. Therefore, as Ben Foster bid his goodbyes following a blockbuster season, Ryan Reynolds welcomed a new star player. This time it is the Millwall Midfielder, George Evans.

Although it is not exactly a tic for tac, as Wrexham AFC lost a strong goalkeeper in Ben Foster, having a center-back as skilled as George Evans is amongst its best strategies to ace up in the middle of the season.
While Ryan Reynolds gave the player a shoutout on his Instagram story, the official Wrexham AFC website recorded a few statements made by George Evans on the occasion. “I’m really excited to sign and I’m desperate to get going,” the newly signed Wrexham AFC player said. It is not just the timing that is hinting George Evans will prove to be a great fill-in as Ben Foster leaves, but also the mega-deal that the club has curated to lock him in.

When Ben Foster joined Wrexham AFC in a surprise deal, although on their toes, many were concerned. Not only had Foster earlier declared retirement, but he was also on a short-term deal. While it did translate into a longer contract later, it fell off within weeks. With George Evans, however, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are not looking to make the same mistake.
Wrexham AFC has signed the former Millwall player with a history of 71 appearances for the Royals for two years. Not only is Evans known for his prowess on the field but the Championship level specifically. And as they fight tooth and nail to not come across a U-turn again, there could not be a timing better than mid-season or a player better than George Evans for Wrexham AFC.
