‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Writer Justin Noble Pens a Heartfelt Tribute to Andre Braugher, as the Actor Passes Away at 61

Among shows that have retained a passionate fanbase even after ending is Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Lauded for its exceptional writing, the Andy Samberg-led series collected many accolades and awards throughout its impressive eight-season journey. The show recently celebrated its decade anniversary in September. Shortly after the celebration, a somber note followed as the Golden Globe-winning TV series grappled with the loss of one of its cherished actors.

Andre Braugher who played Captain Raymond Holt on Brooklyn Nine-Nine departed from the world, leaving his fans teary-eyed. To honor the late actor, the writer of the show, Justin Noble shared a heartfelt note on his Instagram story.

Andre Braugher, who was popular for his roles in Homicide: Life On The StreetMen of a Certain Age, and many other series, passed away at 61. The actor’s publicist informed the news of his passing, which followed a note from Justin Noble on Instagram. Justin Noble expressed how devastated he was by the news and shared his experience working with the late actor. Noble noted that Andre Braugher was a man full of joy and was very “dedicated to himself”, his cast, and also everyone around him. 

Noble shared that he loved working with Braugher and the news was unbelievable for him. Ending his note, the writer hoped that Braugher was already spreading his alarming talent in heaven, “working on things we can all admire when we get there”. Although the reason for  Braugher’s saddening demise is under wraps, it is reported that the actor had an illness.

Terry Crews, who played yogurt-loving Terry Jeffords on the show, took to Instagram to pen a note for his co-star, with whom he shared “8 glorious years”. Crews also acknowledged Andre Braugher for all his experiences and teachings. Dirk Blocker, who played one-half of the cop duo Hitchcock and Scully, extended his “heartfelt condolences” to Braugher’s family. Marc Evan Jackson, who played Captain Holt’s beloved and perpetually curt husband Dr. Kevin M. Cozner, also shared an adorable picture with the late actor. 

Other than the actors, the people behind the cameras also expressed their sorrow for the actor’s demise. This includes Christopher Miller, who directed and produced the show’s pilot. He shared how “supremely talented” the actor was and his dynamic with Andy Samberg “was the heart of the show.” Meanwhile, the leads of the show, including Melissa Fumero who collaborated with Vanessa Ramos on Netflix’s ‘Blockbuster’ last year, are still silently mourning for the actor.
