Music, movies, and sports go hand in glove with one another. The multi-billion dollar industries are ever so intertwined that it is hard to guess where one ends and the other begins as they both work towards the common objective of entertainment. Interestingly, at the driving point of both sports and movies lies music. And here is where Sir Elton John comes in. The noted musician and singer recently put his weight behind Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for marrying their love for movies with sports thanks to Wrexham AFC.

The singer recently spoke his mind on whether Reynolds has more fun looking after Wrexham AFC or while filming his movies.

The ‘Rocket Man’ artist has sold more than 300 million records and stands as a legendary figure in the world of music. However, at one time, he too dived into the realm of sports and, coincidentally, soccer. The musician was the president of Watford Football Club during the 80s. Speaking to BBC Sports, Sir Elton John drew a parallel between the Wrexham AFC owners and himself and opined, “I bet they have more fun doing that than any movie they’ve ever made.”

Similar to how Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have taken Wrexham AFC to fifteen-year highs since their acquisition, he took Watford Football Club to the top tier of English football. Meanwhile, it is even more staggering that the Hollywood duo managed to achieve such heights within only two years of acquiring the Welsh force. Additionally, when Wrexham went through with their promotion in the EFL, the ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ also “phoned Ryan”. Sharing the love, he also proclaimed that managing a football team is always “it’s so exciting”. Same can be said about Reynolds’ entanglement with Marvel.

Regarding how the Marvel actor is juggling between his two jobs, is a question better posed to Marvel Studios.

Deadpool 3 may feature faces from Wrexham AFC

The upcoming Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman crossover brings over a boon of opportunities for Marvel Studios. The first-ever R-rated label off the studio is set to expand big on time travel. However, during its initial period of filming, there were some issues with time management. The Canadian actor’s Wrexham commitments took a toll on filming. Several reports indicated that the 47-year-old was persistent in efforts to bring over some faces from Wrexham for cameos.

The reports were off-putting with fears that they could alienate the audience from the matter at hand. Moreover, with a cast that is studded with stars to the brim, adding more could just jeopardize the whole operation. Regardless, the matter appears to have resolved itself as the crew assembles again for filming after the SAG-AFTRA strikes. Meanwhile, Deadpool 3 will land on July 26, 2024, just off by a few weeks from its May 3 date.
