Ben Foster Reveals How He Had to Break a Wall Before Meeting up With Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney
Throughout the decades, sports and Hollywood have seen various points of intersection through Super Bowl and Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, a full-on blockbuster comeback of a done and dusted football team at the hands of Hollywood actors had never been done before, making the victory even sweeter for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
While many credited the success to the bond the owners created with their players, their star goalkeeper, Ben Foster, has recently opened up about how he had to get through a wall before talking to them.

The off-field move by Wrexham AFC to sign the football virtuoso Ben Foster in a surprise contract is perhaps the best England football has seen in years. The Welsh club found itself in the trenches at a very pivotal time during the league, and Foster’s entry changed things forever. But contrary to popular belief, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had not personally reached out until the former Manchester United players received Phil Parkinson’s nod of approval.
Ben Foster revealed to The Athletic that he believed Parkinson was “trying to read” him on their Zoom call. And it was only right of him to do so because the goalkeeper had declared retirement back then.
Fortunately for both Foster and Wrexham, Parkinson trusted the goalkeeper, and that led to the club’s phenomenal victory. However, Foster’s recruitment definitely differs from the several other big players Reynolds and McElhenney have publicly asked to join.

Promotion to the upper league naturally means more cutthroat competition for Wrexham AFC. While it has several phenomenal players ranging from proven veteran Ben Foster to known striker Paul Mullin, they still need more. It was clear as the team played friendlies that they will need to further up their game if they are looking to make a greater or even equal impact in the coming season. And owing to his years on the field, Phil Parkinson knows this.
Perhaps this is why the club owners have hoped to strike lightning in a bottle as they make an attempt to recruit through tweets. So far, however, Wrexham AFC has made sure to tighten the reigns on the good players it already has while keeping an eye out for others.
