The phrase “You can never tell a book by its cover” may have gained popularity through Lester Fuller and Edwin Rolfe, as they uncovered the harrowing truths behind seemingly innocent faces. However, it was redefined by Henry Cavill. It is through the actor that the world acknowledged that just because someone is the embodiment of the symbol of strength, hope, and justice on screen does not mean that they do not squeal into their comic books off the screens. Through countless interviews and interactions, the former Superman proudly established that he is indeed a nerd especially when it comes to the science fiction and fantasy genre.

Fans of both the DC comics and the science fiction genre lived their dreams through the British actor as he went on to play iconic roles in the genre. Most notably, Cavill played Geralt in Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s mystical world. It became clear through Cavill’s non-stop praises of the books that he is merely a fan of the man behind the pen. However, Sapkowski did not make the final cut when Cavill discussed his favorite authors from his undisputed favorite genre.

Henry Cavill names his top three authors of the science-fiction genre

While book recommendations and big movie stars were something that was never mixed before, times have changed. The audience is now further intrigued by the personality they shed off to get into their character rather than just their on-screen alias. This has reaped sweet fruits for Henry Cavill, who is hailed for his love for video games, the science fiction genre, and all things. Therefore, it did not come as much of a shock when Ali Plumb, during their BBC interview in 2022, asked Cavill to name his favorite science fiction authors. “Anything by Raymond E.Feist, David Gemmell, and Brandon Sanderson,” he said.

It seemed like the actor had the answer prepared at the back of his head because it did not take him a second to answer the question. However, in his hurry, Cavill forgot to name the mastermind behind his hit Netflix series, The Witcher.

This in no way means that the Enola Holmes actor is not appreciative of his work. Especially as one of the supposed reasons behind his exit emerged to be the series straying away from Sapkowski’s book.
