It seems like only yesterday Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney stunned the world with their decision to buy a dusted Welsh football club. However, it has been two years since the Green Lantern and his partner dedicated their money, time, and heart to bringing Wrexham AFC back to life. While the club showed immense improvements ever since they first took over, it was only in the past couple of weeks that the owners and the team reaped the benefits of its hard work on paper by getting promoted. And this escalation would not have been possible without the surprise entry of Ben Foster.

Reynolds and McElhenney had won over the hearts of the locals as they proved their passion for football, but most importantly, Wrexham. Another legend that identified these values was Ben Foster. And his joining the club on a short contract was all the push that the club needed to finally cross over to the next level. But as they say, the taste of success is quite addictive. And Reynolds and McElhenney are once again trying their shot with another legendary football winger.

The recent win of the Hollywood owners has everyone touched. Call it the magic of Reynolds’ storytelling in the Welcome to Wrexham docuseries or just their sheer dedication to make the cut, but everyone and their moms bounced off the wall when they won 3-1 over Boreham Wood. Now that they have secured their place in the league with the much-awaited promotion, the owners have bigger dreams. One of them includes Gareth Bale. As McElhenney promised him a four-hour gulf session which will most entail him to “un-retire for one last magical season,” Reynolds soon joined in with his own bribe.

When we said that everyone and their moms were excited, we were not kidding because that is where it all started. McElhenney posted a video of Bale congratulating them on their win and expressing his gratitude for the amazing work. To further stir the hype, the footballer quipped in with a “Depends what course….”

Is Bale joining Wrexham FC?

The footballer retired early this year in January and since then seems to be basking in the retirement glow. Unlike Foster, who was in talks to return to soccer with other clubs, Bale has remained twenty feet away from any matches.

It is highly unlikely that he would cut short his retirement just after a few months to join Wrexham AFC. However, if football is a game of surprises, then Wrexham AFC is the master and we can never predict what the owners have up their sleeves next.
