This entire year, Ryan Reynolds was constantly in the headlines for his much-awaited Deadpool 3. While the film ended up running into delays, it was not his only project that ended up facing issues. However, with the SAG-AFTRA strike being a thing of the past now, Hollywood has been back up and running. So is the father of four. While he has been taking out time for his other hobbies, he has thrown himself back into work to give his fans some works of art in 2024.

IF (Imaginary Friends)

Back in 2022, it was revealed that Ryan Reynolds was set to star in a John Krasinski film. While it was initially titled Imaginary Friends, the movie was officially renamed IF. Although it was supposed to come out earlier this year, it faced major delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike and was pushed to 2024. Thankfully, the stars recently announced the release date, 17th May, and the trailer for the fantasy film.

The storyline was revealed to follow the story of a young girl as she goes on a magical adventure. While the plot seemed a little like a fairytale, the cast of the film stunned the world. Apart from Reynolds and Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Steve Carell, John Cena, and many other big names were added to the cast list. So far, not much about the film has been released.

With the release not too far away, fans thankfully will not have to wait too long before the whole story can be tied together.

Underdogs

Earlier this year, it was announced that National Geographic had decided to go ahead with a Ryan Reynolds narrated history series called Underdogs. While it is unlike most of the actor’s other work, it could prove to be a new chapter for the star. The series is said to be split into 10 parts and will be a delightful mix of science, humor, and even some good old-fashioned fun.

It might be a little out of the 47-year-old’s comfort zone, but it would be something he could share with his children with Blake Lively. While there has been no word on what has been going on with the series, there is a huge possibility that it could be announced at some point in 2024.

Clue

Back in 2022, there were rumors of a remake of the 1985 hit, Clue. This time, it would be directed by James Bobin and star Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in lead roles. Just like the original, the remake also promised to be a murder mystery that took place when a group of strangers got together. While not much has since been revealed about the storyline, it could still wind up on the actor’s upcoming films list next year.

Although the film has already been done, adding Reynolds into the picture promised fans a terrifying yet good time as the star has become known for his range. While the cast has not been completely revealed as of yet, there is still some hope that it could come out next year.

Upstate

Back in 2020, Ryan Reynolds teamed up with Netflix and John August to bring to life an original comedy, Upstate. While his production company, Maximum Effort, has been involved in creating it, they have managed to keep the plot of the comedy under wraps for so long. However, with it being years since the deal was struck and given that the actor only has 2 confirmed projects in his arsenal so far, it would not be surprising if talks of the comedy would resurface.

There is no doubt in the minds of fans that the comedy will be an absolute hit whenever it does come out as August and Reynolds have already formed a bond with each other. After all, they did work together in 2007’s The Nines.

Boy Band

Earlier this year, it was announced that Ryan Reynolds would be teaming up with Paramount to bring his fans another comedy, Boy Band. It was said to be produced and directed by the star’s long-time friend and Deadpool director, Shawn Levy. They were also said to be joined by Will Ferrel, who will also be starring in the comedy series. Unfortunately, the stars have ensured to keep a tight lid on the storyline for their film.

After all, Reynolds did end up working on the script himself. While a film has usually been enough to send his fans into a frenzy, him writing his very own jokes could only take it to a whole another level. Hopefully, fans will finally be able to watch the actor be himself on screen again soon.
