In the time it took for Hugh Jackman to say yes to reprising his Wolverine role for Deadpool 3, Ryan Reynolds had devised a foolproof plan to make a phenomenal blockbuster that the audiences would remember for a lifetime. And while he has gone the whole nine yards to keep this plan undercover until it reaches its big screen destination, fans found out, to their delight, that Loki would be a part of Deadpool 3.

This is among the few promising aspects apart from the comic-accurate suits that fans have been lucid dreaming about since the sad update of the filming being postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA. But in these dreams, fans imagined Tom Hiddleston in all his Loki glory taking up the screen space alongside Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine. Just as fans were beginning to lose their marbles over multiple reports of Tom Hiddleston reprising the role of Loki in Deadpool 3, it has been debunked. Fans will now have to make do with another Loki for the third installment of the Ryan Reynolds franchise. This is the latest addition to the kerfuffle that Taron Egerton is now reportedly a part of.

As Reynolds completes his lifelong dream of being a part of the MCU, there were several speculations about how the Deadpool verse will be introduced into Marvel. And from the onset itself, the majority voted for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki to be the connection.

Now that the chances of Tom Hiddleston reprising the role of Loki are out the window, who else can give Deadpool a run for the most self-aware humor in Deadpool 3?

Who can be Loki in Deadpool 3?

The biggest hint that made fans sure of a Loki connection was the leaked set photo from Deadpool 3. Wolverine and Deadpool were seen fighting in front of a wrecked ship, which held an eery resemblance to the ship featured in the Disney+ series. But they have not been lucky in finding out who will play the role of Loki in the upcoming Reynolds starrer.

While Hiddleston’s Loki is not set to appear, industry insider, Jeff Snider revealed on John Rocha’s The Hot Mic podcast that Owen Mobius from the Disney+ series is booked to star in Deadpool 3. It is clear that the movie will have a Loki connection but Tom Hiddlestons’ Loki is not a part of the movie. This leaves room for the appearance of more Loki variants. And if Ryan Reynolds is really trying to live up to his name of being an eccentric superstar, we may just see the return of the first female Loki, Sylvie, on Deadpool 3. For now, fans will have to keep a close eye on all the Loki variants from Alligator to Sanke.
