Amidst ‘Deadpool 3’ Leaks, MCU Serves the Perfect Nostalgia With Comic-Accurate Wolverine in ‘X-Men ‘97’ Clip
Marvel Studios faced a tough few years following Avengers: Endgame. A slew of creative inroads resulted in a mixed bag of reception and box-office earnings despite big hits such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Looking to shake past that fever dream and get back on its track record of making resounding hits, the Kevin Feige-led team has pitched forth two projects surrounding the X-Men with Deadpool & Wolverine and X-Men ’97.
Right in time before its global release, a sneak peek of the first episode from the latter animation project evoked a massive sense of nostalgia and, of course, hype.

In 1992 through 1997, a series named X-Men: The Animated Series used licensed characters from Marvel comics. Additionally, it found massive repute and acclaim for bringing the franchise to a wider audience with faithful world-building, marking a first and lifelong love for the characters for many of its viewers. Now, a Marvel Studios reboot of the same scheduled to drop in a week just managed to tap back on that feeling as a sneak peek stayed true to the original.
Featuring nearly a minute and a half from the first episode, the clip had the likes of Wolverine and the Beast fighting off against a wave of Galactus variants. However, beyond the storyline, the animation came across exactly the way when it aired in the 90s. Featuring contrasting color palettes and a style that gives the feeling of watching the pages of a comic book turn to life, the upcoming reboot looks set to hit on nostalgia, with ten episodes dropping until May 15, after the first two on March 20.
In the meantime, the other mega-project featuring two prominent X-Men just received a behemoth speck of speculation.

Following his DC snub, recent rumors linked Henry Cavill to joining the MCU. However, a recent speculation laid bare the possibility of him appearing in the upcoming Marvel live-action. Coming from a trusted source, the rumors pitched the ex-Superman playing a Wolverine variant alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine, scheduled to land as early as July 26, 2024.
At a time when the wider fan base had yet to settle on which Marvel character suited Cavill more, the speculation gave rise to both excitement and fear. Rather, the possibility of Marvel Studios reducing the actor to a mere cameo like John Krasinski has gripped the fandom in terror, with many wanting the British actor to stay for a prolonged period in the MCU.
