The first season of Welcome to Wrexham was a roaring success. And soon after, they decided to start shooting for the second season. And lo-and-behold, the football club is nominated for another award. Hollywood Critics Award reported that the docuseries has been nominated for ‘Best Cable Reality or Competition Series’ by the 2023 HCA TV Awards. Among the 8 nominees, Welcome to Wrexham is the only sports-themed frontrunner.
Talking about the series in the past, Reynolds and McElhenney revealed how Welcome to Wrexham wasn’t just the story about the town but something more. From feeling weird about always having a camera around to adding more feathers on their cap, these two co-chairpersons are doing a pretty good job with the club.
These achievements have not come very easy. The two Hollywood stars have put in quite some effort in lifting the team and respecting the cultural significance this third-oldest professional football team in the world holds.
