As fans bid adieu to the era of Zack Snyder, another loss fans had to suffer through was Gunn’s decision to slash out Henry Cavill as Superman. Despite the replacement of the Kryptonian hero through David Corenswet, fans have held out hope for DC’s upcoming projects of Superman: Legacy and a Supergirl move believed to be in the works. 

It looks like the decision regarding one thing that links these flicks together may land in Gunn’s hands too. 

Will James Gunn cast Supergirl for Superman: Legacy?

As the buzz surrounding Gunn’s Superman: Legacy intensifies, whispers of another intriguing detail about the upcoming film have started circulating. An account credited for DC Extended Universe-related leaks in the past has given voice to the rumor that Gunn might be the one helming the search for the next face of Supergirl. Earlier, the still-to-be-revealed director of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow was believed to be in charge of this call. 

Since the female counterpart of Superman is speculated to appear in Superman: Legacy before the Supergirl flick, the DC Co-CEO could have possibly taken over the casting decision. Meanwhile, fans are busy imagining actresses like Millie Bobby Brown as the next Kara Zor-El. The superheroine’s part has been portrayed by seven different actresses in the past already. Whether this rumor culminates in a fresh face or an old one remains to be seen.

When it comes to rumors regarding Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the same source of leaks has also revealed something else. Reports pointing in the direction of her character suggest that the Last Daughter of Krypton may carry a “punk rock edginess” unlike her past depictions. The new Supergirl could have “a humorous side” similar to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. 

Considering her murky past of having “watched her planet die” as a child, the new Supergirl is expected to have a toughened exterior. Another rumor that has made the rounds alludes to the presence of a surprise character in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. This could be the loyal superdog Krypto who is also speculated to appear in Superman: Legacy.
