Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are synonymous with the word frenemies. It feels illegal to speak of Hollywood’s most iconic ‘bromances’ without mentioning the two. The actors have a long history of a heartwarming friend-rival relationship that spans decades. Even so, the king of wits, Reynolds, has for long teased Hugh Jackman and his character Wolverine, in his first two Deadpool movies. And this finally manifested itself with the third movie in the franchise.

Set to be the first-ever R-rated MCU project, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds will star together after decades as Wolverine and Deadpool, respectively in Deadpool 3. Additionally, it turns out that neither of the two will probably be leaving the MCU after the movie either!

Fresh out of his grave and in the MCU, Wolverine is here to stay

It definitely took some sort of sorcery for Marvel Studios’ President, Kevin Feige, to be able to convince Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as the iconic Wolverine after 2017’s Logan. The movie served as a befitting conclusion to the character and Jackman had said that he was done with all he had to offer. However, Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Feige successfully brought back Jackman for one last showdown in Deadpool 3. But we would be wrong again if we were to think that Jackman’s Wolverine days are over with this movie!

As per a report by the noted insider, DanielRPK on Twitter, Hugh Jackman has already held a round of talks with Kevin Feige on his potential role in the MCU after Deadpool 3. And it turns out to be massive! Marvel is lining up its Multiverse saga to culminate with a crossover of a scale yet unseen on screens with Avengers: Secret Wars.

Since Deadpool 3 is about to introduce mutants into the MCU, it is very likely that Jackman could be leading or defending the MCU mutants. However, one caveat is that they held the talks early on before the SAG-AFTRA strikes came into force. As such, since Deadpool 3 is delayed, it is unclear if Marvel will go ahead with their planned continuation of Jackman’s story with Avengers: Secret Wars.

Meanwhile, comic book movie fans have long waited for an epic clash between Deadpool and Wolverine and they will finally get it in te threequel. But this is the first time the two characters have clashed.

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman set to clash and bond once again in Deadpool 3

Deadpool 3 is set to be one of the biggest comic book movies of all time. Featuring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in comic-accurate costumes, the movie is ticking the right boxes. Additionally, set photos have hinted at a massive clash of the two regenerating mutants as well. However, this is hardly the first time that the two iconic characters are going up against one another.

In the 2009 movie, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Wolverine and Deadpool did face off against each other. However, the movie deviated so much from the comic-book accuracy that it received massive criticism. Therefore, the third Deadpool movie and the first set in the MCU will be looking to retcon the past.
