“There was an idea, to bring together a group of remarkable people…,” Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury shared these iconic lines in The Avengers movie way back in 2012. Fast forward to 2023 and it seems like Shawn Levy has taken it up way too seriously! For the director, ‘frenemies’ Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, going toe-to-toe in Deadpool 3 is not enough. Even the already stellar cast is not enough on the plate too, it seems.

In what appears to be the largest Marvel crossover after Avengers: Endgame, if not surpassing it altogether, Levy has just hinted at the possibility of even more original Fox X-Men characters appearing in the movie.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige set himself a pretty high bar with the epic crossover and gigantic ensemble he brought upon with the last two Avengers movies. Despite its gargantuan nature, The Russo Brothers directed the movies to perfection. Now, Shawn Levy wants to recreate history once again with Deadpool 3. Yes, he is leaving no stone unturned to bring the original X-Men back. In his interview with Total Film Magazine (reported by Giant Freakin Robot), Levy acknowledged that “there’s a lot of Marvel history at Fox.”

Long-time fans would know that even before the MCU was born, Fox brought to life Marvel’s X-Men from the comics way back in 2000. The Fox films were the foundations of the upcoming movie and the very start for Reynolds’ Deadpool and Jackman’s Wolverine. Along with them, a ton of actors from Patrick Stewart to Jennifer Lawrence and Oscar Isaac to Sophie Turner are all part of the X-Men legacy that Disney inherited when it bought Fox Studios. Therefore, is Levy hinting at bringing all of them back? Well, from the looks of it, anything is possible in the multiverse.

Shawn Levy is building himself a task that is going to be very hard to pull off. Yet, if he manages to do it, Deadpool 3 could end up charting history as one of the best comic book movies ever made.
