After Giving a Major ‘Deadpool 3’ Update, Shawn Levy Makes a Shocking ‘Star Wars’ Announcement
Netflix, through its keen eye for talent and unwillingness to let go of it, has established itself as one of the greatest players in the streaming game. One such talent that the OTT Mogul uses again and again is Shawn Levy. But as the director takes on a Marvel project curtsy of Ryan Reynolds, and of course his own genius, the streamer might not be the only one reusing Levy to put forth blockbusters.
While it has now become a daily prayer of sorts to remember Deadpool 3 and speculate about its release date amidst the SAG AFTRA strikes, a project of Shawn Levy’s that despite its big name goes unnoticed is Star Wars. But not anymore.

It was towards the end of 2022 when Deadline exclusively revealed that Shawn Levy was directing a Star Wars movie without any mention of when, why, and where. And as Deadpool 3 made its way to the sets unleashing its comic-accurate costumes on the audiences, the Star Wars project, with little to no updates, had been brushed under the rug. But how long can you really ignore a Star Wars movie directed by Shawn Levy? Not much apparently, as the director was asked about it in an interview at Collider’s TIFF media studio.
Much like his update about the Deadpool 3 movie, Levy said, “We were just in the process of developing my movie” when the strikes brought it all to a halt. But that is not to say that all hope is lost for the Shawn Levy directorial. In fact, Levy is only waiting until the writers get paid the amount they deserve to start working on it again.
While the update may have been about his much anticipated Star Wars movie, Shawn Levy is currently ensuring that his Netflix project that does not boast of Ryan Reynolds or a Marvel badge does not go unnoticed.

Shawn Levy in recent years has become quite the kingmaker when it comes to larger-than-life projects. Be it his involvement in Stranger Things or Ryan Reynolds not leaving him once since their first project, the director is certainly shining bright in the city of stars. Now more than ever as he has not only Deadpool 3 but also Star Wars up his sleeves. And going unnoticed amidst this cinematic kerfuffle is the mastefully directed Shawn Levy Netflix project titled All The Light We Cannot See.
The book is set around the bombing of the city of Saint Malo. It ties elegantly a thread between a bling girl waiting for her father to return with a German soldier not very far away. With its top notch production and the dedication of filmmakers like Steven Knight and Shawn Levy, the movie might just earn Netflix and its trusted director the biggest award this season.
