After an incredible 22-23 season, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-led side Wrexham started its second division journey a while ago. Undoubtedly, it was a massive achievement for the Red Dragons as it secured a promotion after nearly two decades. However, unlike their fairy tale season in the National League, the Welsh side has been going through a rough patch. And one of the most significant blows for Wrexham this year was Ben Foster’s retirement.

Ben Foster was perhaps one of the biggest signings for the Red Dragons. However, after an incredible season, the former Manchester United star has finally taken the back seat. Following Foster’s retirement, Wrexham seems to be eyeing on a renowned English keeper.

While Foster’s retirement was surely a huge blow, Wrexham seems to be getting back at its feet. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have already started their hunt for a new goalkeeper. Reports by All Nigerian Football suggest that the Red Dragons have been planning to buy Arsenal and England international goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.

The latest tweet by All Nigerian Football reveals that the 21-year-old keeper’s move to Wrexham is possible. The tweet further reads that Okonkwo has few offers apart from a deal from the Red Dragons. Notably, Okonkwo has never made a senior appearance for the Gunners. However, his recent campaign on loan for the Austrian side Sturm Graz has been incredible.

We are no strangers to the fact that Reynolds and McElhenney have spent tremendous money to build Wrexham. The duo turned the tides for the Red Dragons, making some impressive signings and helping the club grow significantly. However, this season seems to be a little different.

So far, Wrexham has only signed Will Boyle and Liam Hall on free transfers. The only expensive signing the Red Dragons made was Wigan’s star, James McClean. Elsewhere, the duo recently purchased an Irish goalkeeper on a short-term deal. Meanwhile, the Welsh tourism boss recently praised Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny for their contribution to promoting Welsh culture.
