Kanye West might be away from the limelight these days, but that does not mean he can escape the turmoil he created. Among the multiple problems that surround the rapper is his controversial Christian school, Donda Academy. Throughout 2022, the rapper’s school made the headlines for its bizarre rules and questionable norms. Moreover, the school also became subject to severe legal problems. Recently, a major update about a lawsuit against the rapper and his Donda academy surfaced online.

A few months ago, Kanye West found himself in hot water with a few employees of his Donda Academy. And ever since, both parties have been going back and forth against each other in a series of legal battles. However, after months of legal drama, the lawsuit against Ye and his Donda Academy recently got a major shakeup. 

Donda Academy directors relieved following the latest update on their lawsuit.

Two teachers from the Donda Academy, Cecilia Hailey and Chekarey Byers, sued Ye as well as his school a few months ago. In reports submitted to the court, the two teachers allege that their wages were wrongfully withheld and the school fired them wrongfully back in March. They revealed they were the only two black female teachers in the school. Almost six months later, the plaintiffs have now requested to drop the directors as defendants from a lawsuit against Ye and his academy. 

As per reports from Fox LA, the teacher’s attorneys have submitted a request at the Los Angeles Superior Court for the dismissal of part of the lawsuit concerning directors Allison Tidwell, Brianne Cambell, and Chris Julian. However, the reason behind their decision remains unclear. Meanwhile, Ye’s attorneys have pleaded with Judge Robert B. Broadbelt to drop the rapper’s name as the defendant in the lawsuit. As of late, Broadbelt is scheduled to rule on a motion by Ye’s attorneys on January 4, early next year.

Interestingly, this is not the first time the employees of the school voiced their complaint against the rapper. 

Teacher alleges bizarre rule at Kanye West’s Donda Academy 

It has almost been a year since Ye founded Donda Academy back in 2022. The rapper’s Christian Academy has been involved in multiple controversies for the bizarre rules and regulations. As shocking as it sounds, two teachers from the academy revealed how the school students had no option but to wear black from head to toe. 

In addition to that, brands like Nike and Adidas were barred from the premises. They further alleged how the academy only served sushi to students during their lunch. The students were not allowed to consume outside foods. On the other hand, when asked about his school, Ye had a peculiar response to the negative image of Donda Academy.
