In these times, when comic book movies are galore, a standard shift is also evolving as audiences turn their focus to other genres. The most recent turn of tide events were Barbie and Oppenheimer, who stood out to prove that good content is what sails at the box office. Furthermore, rampant growth has spurted in the fantasy genre thanks to the massive inroads into fans’ hearts by shows such as Stranger Things and The Witcher. Marrying the themes of these shows with the good old content of romance takes us back to the times when The Twilight Saga had nurtured them both.

The American filmmaker’s entry gave birth to the saga of movies that earned upwards of  $3.4 billion. The Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart-lead went around for a total of five outings before the series ended. After more than a decade and a half, Catherine Hardwicke pitched for a remake and her potential lead choices. The director lent her vote to Wednesday’s Jenna Ortega and Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi to replace Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, respectively.

The fantasy romance centered around the characters of Bella Swan and a vampire, Edward Cullens. Based on the books by Stephanie Myers, the saga ended in 2015 with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. While the major reason for the ending was because all the original creative sources had completed their assimilation into the movies, the cast had agreed to return for a sixth if Myers were to pen down another book. Regardless, the latter did not happen and a TV show based on the saga is reportedly in development.

The Euphoria actor was notoriously famous for his dark portrayal of Nate Jacobs in Euphoria. Alongside Sydney Sweeney and Zendaya, his remarkable screen presence made him one of the most sneered characters while his personal repute for acting prowess touched sky-high. Incidentally, James Gunn’s Superman Legacy had knocked at his doors to replace Henry Cavill but he passed on the offer. Soon after, he would go on to channel Elvis Presley and deliver one more emphatic performance with Priscila.

On the other end of the stick, Jenna Ortega will return for season two of Wednesday. However, the actress exited one of her other franchises, Scream. Coincidentally, the exit came close on the heels of her co-star, Mellissa Barrera’s firing after controversial remarks on the Israel-Hamas war. Regardless, whether the duo land a role in Twilight stands in early talks.
