Life has a tendency to come full circle, and when Barbie graced the theaters a year ago, the audience enthusiastically hopped into the limbo of time wrap to take that trip down memory lane. Of course, Barbie had its undertones in serious contemplation about the age-old nuances that come with women’s existence, but its cultural impact was a revival for its source of genesis. Resultantly, a day ahead of the Oscars showdown, Barbie’s 65th birthday is calling for twice the celebration.

With the introduction of eight new role model dolls by Mattel to celebrate Barbie’s birthday, here are 5 celebrities who, though not featured on the list, merit the creation of their own doll counterparts.

Taylor Swift

A modern-day Barbie is all about empowerment and fueling inspiration. Hence, to top the list, how can one miss out on the pop sensation whose chart road of making history is a seasoned affair? By all indications, if anyone resembles Barbie in aura, conduct, and success, it is Taylor Swift.

Be it from her highest-grossing Eras Tour, her entry to the Billionaire’s club, or her fueling the economic surge, Swift has countless crackers to vouch for driving a generation into an uncontrollable frenzy. Moreover, for all the right reasons, only a Barbie can make space for a Barbie as graciously Swift did at the Golden Globes.

Lily Gladstone

Presently, the name that is dictating the Best Actress in a Motion Picture category with clean sweeps this award season is Lily Gladstone. As the first Native American to win a Golden Globes and bag a nomination for the Academy Awards, she has not only made it to the pages of history but also a cultural testament of pride.

Her aim to decolonize gender makes her a prominent advocate of LGBTQ+ and her outspokenness makes her one-of-a-kind. Hence, now more than ever, she deserves her own role model doll for being the icon the time needs.

Emma Stone

The Oscar-winner, whose steps in the award seasons count for a win, also makes a compelling case for a Barbie model creation. As Emma Stone struts 2024’s award season with pride, confidence, and obviously the trump cards, she has also become a household face in America’s popular culture.

As an exceptionally versatile actor whose run for this year’s Oscar awards is keeping fans on their toes, Stone has been an elemental name in the list of empowering women in contemporary times. With that big a resume and that great conduct, there is no reason why Mattel should overlook Barbie as its role model doll.

Meghan Markle

A royal by marital ties but also a royal by conduct, Meghan Markle makes the best bet for a Barbie role model for several reasons. However, one reason that trumps all the others for Mattel to eye Markle for this goes back to her childhood when her father customized a set of dolls to make her comfortable with her biracial lineage since at the time only black or white dolls were accessible.

This revelation was made by her in a 2015 write-up for Elle UK. Hence, perhaps, never a better time for Mattel to pick up the saddle and make Markle the poster face for their own lineup of biracial dolls than this.

The next name on the list might not make a great Barbie unlike the other three, but surely can become Mattel’s best Ken for 2024.

Ryan Reynolds

Even though Ryan Reynolds’ entry in the Barbie era has not yet been directed by Mattel, in the world of figurines, he has already entered, all thanks to Deadpool. As a religious collector of DC and Marvel figurines, a Mattel crossover with Marvel can bring out the most iconic crossover. Also, given that the figurines are making a revamp just in time for Deadpool & Wolverine‘s release, this could be the big-budget move of the year.

Even though these 5 A-listers find themselves excluded from the lineup of inspirations for Mattel creators this time, there’s no denying that the company would have incurred substantial costs had these stars been part of the selection.
