As Wrexham AFC Prepares to Return to Second Division After Nearly 2 Years, Ryan Reynolds Gives a Major Update About the Team

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are two incredibly popular faces in Hollywood and more recently in the Welsh football scene. We are no strangers to the fairy tale journey they have had with their team, Wrexham AFC. Ever since the duo took over the Red Dragons’ back in November 2020, the team’s tide took a turn. Not only did Reynolds and McElhenney put the team on the world map, they significantly improved them as well. And after fulfilling the club’s dream of nearly 20 years, Reynolds recently announced another huge update regarding Wrexham.

As we all know, Wrexham was recently promoted to the second division after nearly 20 years. The dramatic victory of Wrexham over Boreham Wood FC marked the accomplishment of the club’s dream of promotion from the National League. As the team prepares to make their comeback to the second division, there seems to be some exciting news for the fans. Recently, the Deadpool star welcomed United Airlines as their new ‘front of shirt sponsor’ for their men’s and women’s teams.

However, one cannot expect Reynolds to not add a bit of his sly humor to it. The actor wrote, “As someone who has extensive experience with airplane puns, SHIPS AHOY,” before welcoming their new sponsors. Prior to their promotion from the National League, the duo had the popular social media app TikTok and travel company Expedia as their sponsors. However, the deal was terminated at the end of their previous season. In the announcement video, the actor spoke about how they seek sponsors that matched the spirit of Wrexham and its people.

Furthermore, they even revealed that they could not think of any better sponsor than United Airlines for their new quest. Meanwhile, owing to the actor’s prior work commitments, Reynolds would be missing out on the starting games of Wrexham as the team starts their second-division journey. With that, fans also look forward to whether there will be a new season of the docu-series, Welcome to Wrexham.

On their official Instagram account, Disney+ announced a brand new season of the sports documentary. The second installment will be making its way to our screens later in 2023. However, as of late there is no official release date, but looking at how gripping the first season was, things surely look exciting.
