Netflix is going through a bad spell and it doesn’t seem like it is going to end anytime soon. One of its most anticipated movies this year, 365 Days: This Day is making headlines for garnering a 0% score from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. As of writing, the movie has a 19% audience score rating on the site.

Both the 365 Days movies met the same fate

Based on Blanka Lipinska’s 365 Days book trilogy. 365 Days: This Day is the sequel to the steamy movie 365 days that debuted on the platform in 2020. 365 Days was a massive hit, drawing millions of eyeballs for the portrayal of graphic sex scenes. But the movie was devoid of substance and critics had problems with the wafer-thin plot and problematic narrative. The Polish erotic thriller received a similar 0% on Rotten Tomatoes as its sequel. 

The story follows a mafia boss, Massimo, who kidnapped Laura. And threaten her to fall in love with him within a year. The sequel begins with the couple getting married. But their honeymoon is interrupted when another mysterious man, Nacho makes an entry into their lives and abducts Laura. 

The movie debuted on April 27 and is trending globally at the #1 spot with 77 million views. Despite acquiring mass viewership, critics have universally panned the movie. One of the most brutal reviews comes from Roger Ebert. 

“365 Days: This Day” is barely a movie. It’s the emotionally bankrupt id of late capitalism, a braindead miasma of choreographed sex and nonsensical fighting driven by greed and violence masquerading as passion.”

Indie Wire writes, “Like the first film, “365 Days: This Day” offers up a staggering amount of sex scenes, even if many of them are decidedly un-sexy. Frankly, they’ve got more in common with “Team America: World Police” than “Fifty Shades,” repetitive and empty to the point of being laughable.”

Netflix needs better control of their content

In the past month, Netflix has made too many changes to cut down its losses. It sidelined animation projects and let go of several projects it had announced earlier. The Stockholm syndrome romance continues the company’s streak of making bad content decisions.
