We are certain that even the die-hard Stranger Things fans have missed the Game of Thrones parallel in the season 4 trailer. Well, we don’t fault you for that because the new monster and the Creel house distracted us as well.  The Duffer jokingly referred to Game of Thrones in an interview.

“We kind of jokingly call it our Game of Thrones season because it’s so spread out, so I think that’s what’s unique, or most unique about the season.”

The high production value and the epic scale of this season can only be compared to Game of Thrones. With the gang dispersed across 3 different locations. The sci-fi series can even have a Game of Thrones introduction with maps and all. Coming to the trailer, the blue-eyed monster may remind you of Night King in Game of Thrones. Well, it’s because the brothers hired Barrier Gower who created the Night King!

“Game of Thrones is one thing we’ve referenced, but also for us really what it’s about is revelations, in that we really wanted to start giving the audience some answers. What occurs in [Creel House] is pivotal to understanding what has been happening in Hawkins all of these years,” they added.

The Duffer Brothers have worked on a supersized season that will have 9 episodes in total arriving on May 27.

“Joyce and [the] Byers family…left at the end of Season 3. They are in California—we’ve always wanted to have that like E.T.-Esque suburb aesthetic, which we finally got to do this year in the desert,” explained Matt. The big evil this season, Vecna, is a direct reference to Dungeons & Dragons. Whereas Joyce and Murray’s adventure to rescue Hopper may give you Indiana Jones Vibes. Although Brett Gelman (Murray) thinks it’s more Star Wars.
