Adapted from Sarah Dessen’s novel of the same name. It follows an academically focused teen Auden. Her academic achievements earned a scholarship at the Defriese Universe. Before she heads off to college, she decides to take one last trip to Colby Beach along with her dad. Unlike other teens, she doesn’t plan to spend her days partying and getting wasted. Instead, she explores the neighborhood at night because she’s an insomniac and avoids every other living soul. That is until she meets another insomniac, Eli.
They bond and go on several night trips. In his company, Auden soon learns to let loose and have fun. She realizes all the things she missed doing as a teenager and decides to change for the better. But this sweet coming of age isn’t without its ups and downs. Her friendship with Eli meets a rough patch when he refuses to open up to her. However, the trip has an impact on her life, as we see her attending a party, something old Auden would never do.
Netflix official synopsis read: The summer before college, studious Auden meets mysterious Eli, and — on nightly quests — he helps her experience the carefree teen life she was missing.
