Netflix’s most expensive movie that fans are hoping would turn the tide in the streaming giant’s favor again, The Gray Man is getting a prequel. And guess who’s writing it? Deadpool’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick! We can only hope that the prequel brings the fun elements of Deadpool.

The Gray Man is an adaptation of Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name. Ryan Gosling’s Courtland Gentry, a skilled mercenary is at the center of the movie.  He stumbles upon the CIA’s dark secrets and this sets a target on his back. The man deployed to hunt him down is his former colleague, Chris Evans’ Lloyd Hansen.

Very limited information is available on the project so far. We only know that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are involved. It will focus on Chris Evans’ character Lloyd Hansen instead of Gosling’s. We might get a fascinating origin story of the principal antagonist of the flick.

Additionally, along with the prequel news, came another big surprise. It’s not unknown that the Russo brothers are behind the big-budget Netflix movie. And they had planned to expand the spy cinematic universe, and make it into a saga. But that was only after the first was well-received.

However, a recent report states that a sequel to The Gray Man is already in the works. Another Marvel writer, Stephen McFeely, is working on the sequel. Currently, the project is in its nascent stages. However, if it gets made, Gosling will return to reprise his role as Courtland Gentry, a.k.a ‘Sierra Six’.
