We knew we were going to get another season of Bridgerton. After all, the series was renewed for two more seasons in 2021. But the hot topic of discussion was which characters will get the limelight in the next season. After months of debate, and reading into various Bridgerton content that was released after season 2, fans finally got the answer. Season 3 will focus on the friends, Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton. Charithra Chandran who plays Edwina Sharma and Nicola Coughlan who portrays Penelope gushed about their romance that’s to take place in season 3. 

Nicola Coughlan wants Penelope to see Colin as a flawed human

Penelope and Colin (Luke Newton)  are childhood friends. While Colin had never quite seen Penelope in the romantic light ever, Penelope was always besotted with him. She was never able to move past that childhood crush. But Colin broke her heart when he started pursuing Penelope’s cousin Marina. In season 2 Colin’s stern declaration to his friends that he would never court Penelope crushes her completely. 

“But I feel like that needs to happen in order for her to take him down off that pedestal she has him on and sees him as just like a real fallible human being. So I’m excited for her to maybe put a bit more worth in herself and not think that he’s this perfect angel,” said Nicola Coughlan.

The friends-to-lovers story is completely different from the past two seasons. While the first two were all about burning passion, the third is about reconciliation.  

Both Charithra and Nicola chose Pollen Featherbridge as their ship name! 

Will Edwina find love in season 3? 

Edwina couldn’t quite grab a Viscount, but she did go on a journey to find self-worth and self-love. 

“Finding love that was not relational to someone else and finding self-worth that wasn’t relational to someone else. So for me, that is her love story,” Charithra explained.

However, the Queen had taken a liking to her. And who knows she might get an actual prince!
