Can Spider-Man Crossover With Deadpool Before ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ and Even Without Ryan Reynolds?
Once upon a time, comics were all but illustrations and catchy storylines bleeding their ink onto paper. However, come the 21st century, they have found themselves serving as the backbone of some of the most bankable franchises and studios in entertainment. One of the behemoths among them is Marvel Studios with a whopping revenue of $29.55 billion. Furthermore, among the leading upcoming faces for its Multiverse saga are Spider-Man and Deadpool famously helmed by Tom Holland and Ryan Reynolds, respectively.
Given the current trajectories of the characters, the most probable of their crossovers is with an Avengers movie. However, recent developments might bring the two together even before it.

Marvel Studios may be having a hard time with the wheels turning on Deadpool 3 thanks to the SAG-AFTRA strikes, but the Marvel brand is rolling ahead. Insomniac Games’ latest iteration of its Spider-Man open-world series, Spider-Man 2, has caught the frenzy of gamers worldwide. In light of its much-anticipated launch, the iconic character’s voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, revealed his pitch for Deadpool to the developers for the third iteration.
Incidentally, the game also features Miles Morales as well as Venom as playable characters. Additionally, this shared universe will also play host to the studio’s Wolverine game scheduled for next year. Thus, it may be possible for Deadpool to cameo or even land alongside that game followed by a fan-beloved crossover in Spider-Man 3. But Ryan Reynolds will likely not be a part of it. In fact, for his choice of Deadpool’s voice actor, Lowenthal voted for Iron Man’s voice from The Avengers game, Nolan North.
Meanwhile, for Ryan Reynolds and Tom Holland fans, a recent MCU release shuffle can cause headaches.

Long after breaking the internet with their comic-accurate costumes, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are yet to land on the big screen. The actor unions’ strikes staying relentless has caused Marvel Studios to knock Deadpool 3 from its expected release date of May 4, 2024. Likely to be taken over by Captain America 4, the juggernaut mutant crossover, as of now, lurches halfway in production and without a scheduled timeline.
Moreover, the movie’s shift is likely to have repercussions over the MCU. Deadpool 3 is to push forward the foray of mutants in the MCU as well as introduce a bunch of X-Men characters. All of these introductions are to play a big role in Avengers: Secret Wars, itself scheduled for May 7, 2027. Thus, in all likelihood, Spider-Man and Deadpool may well be years away from sharing screen space in the MCU. Yet, they may close the gap in the video game timeline.
