With Bridgerton season 2 just around the corner, we can’t wait to see the character development of our favorite Bridgerton siblings, as well as their respective saucy romantic lives, or with Eloise Bridgerton, no romantic life. We will, without a doubt, miss Simon, Duke of Hastings. There is no more saddening news for Bridgerton fans than the fact that actor Regé-Jean Page will not return for the second season.

The show Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn’s novels, which are set in Regency-era London town. The first season focused on Daphne Bridgerton, the eldest daughter, and her love life. The second season, based on the second novel in the series, will follow Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, the eldest son. Because each season will focus on one of the siblings, there will be no more Simon Basset in subsequent seasons.

When asked if the creator and author Julia Quinn was as surprised as the fans to learn that Rege-Jean Page would not be returning for season 2, she refused, “I had a heads up, I knew, the show is based on a series of romance novels. You have a different set of leads with every book.” Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page signed a one-season contract, so he will not appear in the following seasons.
