Gentefied, the drama-comedy series about Mexican-American cousins chasing the American dream, has had two very successful seasons. As the trio fights for their neighborhood, their immigrant grandfather, and a family taco shop, they learn the ways of the world. As season 2 of Gentefied streams on Netflix, find here all the updates on season three of the series.
Plot and theme
It was February 2020 when fans met the Morales family, Boyle Heights, and the Los Angeles taco shop, Mama Fina’s. The taco shop, dear to the family, was waiting to be gentrified by a white woman wanting to turn it into a pop shop. The cherry on top was Pop Casimiro being detained by ICE.
With things being as they were, creators Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chavez could have turned Gentefied into a big series drama, and drama it is, no doubt. But the show continues to keep its heartwarming essence and great comedic moments through the first two seasons.
And that is what fans expect from the third season. Fans expect season 3 of Gentefied to mostly focus on Lidia and Erik. The couple struggled and lot in season 2 and went through many great changes. They brought a child into the world, went to couples therapy, moved away from the family, and are on the precipice of getting married.
Throughout season 2, Ana stays conflicted between her career and love life, unable to balance the two. But her romance with Yessika is far from over. Chris needs to discover more about himself, and in an effort to do so, moves to New Mexico city to work with a world-class chef. He makes things right with his new interest, Sarai, before leaving and she, in turn, launches a new restaurant. She could be waiting for him, leading to more complications that fans expect to explore in season 3 of the Netflix Original.
And finally, there is Pop. Pop received a visa until he can get his green card. Hence, his stay is extended, as of now.
