The seven-time Mr. Olympia champion just lost his first-ever trainer, Kurt Marnul as the legend passed away on the 9th of February, 2023 at 93 years of age. The devastated Hollywood star has thus taken it to his Instagram handle to pen an overwhelming note to his mentor as he took his leave from this world. Breaking it to the internet, the 75-year-old started off by shedding light on how he crossed paths with the first-ever idol of his life.
Referring to him as Mr. Austria, Schwarzenegger wrote how he had been generous to him ever since day one. Although back in the day, he was just a budding teenager trying to make a passionate career in bodybuilding, Marnul was “gracious with them” since the beginning of his fitness journey. He further makes the admission that it is for people like Kurt Marnul that he does not refer to him as a self-made man.
Arnold Schwarzenegger goes down memory lane to commemorate his days with Kurt Marnul
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Marnul started off their journey back in the 1960s as he eventually tried to personally train the then-future Olympia champion. In fact, it was Marnul who pushed the Austrian bodybuilder to win the 1966 FIHC Mr. Universe title. Ever since not only Schwarzenegger but other legends in the industry also owe their life’s success to Marnul.
The reason behind Marnul’s death is still unknown. However, the death of the legend marks the end of an era. Although we lost a star in the sky of bodybuilding, his legacy will forever be carried forward by his brilliant students like Arnold Schwarzenegger and many more.
