To Be or Not to Be? ‘My Hero Academia’ Fourth Movie Announcement Has Put Fans in a Conflict
At a time when anime fans had exhausted Naruto, One Piece, and Dragon Ball Z by binge-watching all their gazillion episodes for the umpteenth time just to bask in the glory of the “OG animes“, as they have come to be recognized, came an unprecedented hero in the form of My Hero Academia. Since its release the anime, My hero Academia has released three movies, each turning the tides with its spectacular box office reception. However a recent update might just change that.
The Kōhei Horikoshi anime took from all the iconic animes their most popular tropes and incorporated them into Izuku Midoriya’s world, where Quirks can be used as battle weapons. There is another astonishing attribute that the anime possesses and it has nothing to do with its intriguing plot but instead its longevity. The anime now not only has seven seasons but a My Hero Academia 4 movie has just been announced.

In recent years, barring Koyoharu Gotouge’s unprecedented blockbuster in the form of Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia fandom is the only one being fed with updates on the daily.
Everything but the makers’ excitement about the new movie is undercover. Weekly Shonen Jump’s latest update officially confirmed the new My Hero Academia movie, along with a message from the genius behind the art.
Horikoshi profusely thanked his supporters and expressed his excitement for the new movie. The magic maker also gave fans an early update as he revealed that the movie will follow the heroes post the war in season 6. “Who will Deku and his friends fight against this time? What will they protect?” are the questions that Horikoshi leaves his fans with.
But the fandom is facing another conundrum because of the new My Hero Academia movie.
Fans react to My Hero Academia 4 announcement
In his official confirmation of the movie through the Weekly Shonen Jump, Kōhei Horikoshi writes that through the new My Hero Academia movie and perhaps movies that will release, he wants the newer generation to experience what he felt as a child. He uses Dragon Ball Z, which has 24 theatrical releases as an example. But the announcement has unfortunately not met the overwhelming enthusiasm that the Dragon Ball Z movies were met with.
While only a small faction, those who believe that the makers have needlessly stretched the anime are many. The writer himself acknowledges that Deku and his friends have fought “many” times. However, those invested in the plot do not believe that the movie is anything less than a cinematic masterpiece.

Fans are assuming that the new My Hero Academia movie is set in the dark Deku era. And this is again a subject of mixed reaction. However, the confirmed post-war timeline leaves a lot of room for the makers to craft a blockbuster hit.
