Netflix is making sure that all hands on the deck are experts, who have an encyclopedic level of expertise about One Piece. This was absolutely necessary given how the anime community has endured generational trauma at the hands of the streamer, who continued to make failed live-action adaptations of popular anime. With the long-running One Piece, the risk seems to be lower. Especially, as the creator himself rang in to give his new Monkey D Luffy a heartwarming birthday wish.

And if this acceptance from Eiichiro Oda was not enough, this new update from the adaptation will have fans looking forward to the upcoming Netflix project.

The live-action series recently dropped a new poster that made fans more confident in it. While the poster did not give away any details about the characters or the exact date of release, it featured a crucial set piece. Someone who was barely shown in the Set Sneak peek that Iñaki Godoy and showrunners Steven Maeda and Matt Owens took fans on.

One Piece‘s new poster, catering to the Japanese audience, featured the Going Merry ship. It is not a secret to those who watched the anime or read the manga that the ship is much more than a means of transport for the Straw Hat Pirates. To them, it is their own. It also included another message to stir excitement on the top. ‘The pirates are coming,’ the poster read.

The new poster, despite not featuring Luffy and the other Straw Hat Pirates, has generated more hype than any other update regarding the series. And this is mostly because of how accurately the poster has adapted the sheep’s head that the majority of the anime community has come to love. The Goin Meery on the One Piece live-action anime poster seems to have leaped right out from Eiichiro Oda’s manga into the real world. There’s no denying that the ship is of the utmost importance to the fans.

The ship, apart from the sheep’s head, featured Luffy’s trademark flag. It was featuring a skull as the sun beautifully highlighted the attention to detail paid while building the ship. They decorated the ship with Luffy’s trademark flag, apart from the sheep head. And given the fact that it was our beloved hero’s first ship, it deserves all the attention.

The ship has a sacred spot in the hearts of the pirates, not only because it was their first but also because Merry crafted it. Hence, Luffy and the crew affectionately came to call it Merry. That it is the main character in the new poster that has pushed fans to give one more chance to Netflix and its live adaptation of One Piece.
