The crime thriller revolves around the early life of the titular character, Aileen Wuornos. The movie takes place in 1976 and is about Aileen’s short-lived marriage to older millionaire Lewis Fell. Their marriage lasted nine weeks and was then annulled after her barroom brawls arrests and then attacking him with his own cane. But that’s not all. She murders his banker and then shoots his son as he attempts to assault her.

Yes, American Boogeywoman on Netflix is based on the true story of serial killer Aileen Wuornos who reddened her hands with 7 murders. However, the plot of this crime-thriller is fictional, but we can surely draw many similarities. Wuornos’ early life was full of tragedy and terrible memory. Her mother abandoned her, and her grandfather abused her. She was dismissed from her home at the age of 15.

Later, she engaged in prostitution to earn a livelihood. However, she was later arrested for a drunk and drive case and shooting a gun out of a moving vehicle. Then she married Fell, but her pathetic behavior didn’t stop. Sometimes she murdered men for self-defense, other times for robbery.

The movie depicts her married era but in a fictional manner.
