The film features the likes of Henry Lawfull, Toby Jones, Sally Hawkins, Kristen Wiig, Michiel Huisman, Zoe Colletti, Stephen Merchant, Joel Fry, Rune Temte, Jim Broadbent, and Maggie Smith. It features ‘Christmassy’ visuals and comes with some melancholy details. But the film is far away from cheesy and a perfect family film for your Christmas evening.

The official synopsis by Netflix reads, “An ordinary little boy named Nikolas embarks on an extraordinary adventure in the snow of the North to find his father, who has gone in search of Elfhelm, the legendary village of the elves. Carrying a stubborn reindeer named Lampo and a loyal little mouse, Nikolas soon faces his fate in this magical, fun, and heartwarming story that proves that nothing is impossible.”

All the action scenes by Henry Lawfull’s Nikolas are done with a lot of safety gear. Of course, it is necessary because he is still a kid. The reindeer scenes are all done with visuals and graphics. Running and filming in snow simultaneously is quite hard and we get quite an idea about how that is done.

The walk of Nikolas and Joel in a countryside market is not actually a market. The crew set it up so that the viewers can feel the old charm of an ancient market and, for obvious reasons, there was no mouse on the shoulders of Nikolas. Instead, it is an act of visual graphics.
