The film Can You Keep a Secret? has received very mixed reviews from critics. IMDb has rated the film as 5.3/10. The film has scored 29% on Rotten Tomatoes by the critics and scored 39% at the audience meter. The film has earned $1.6 million, which is comparatively low for American markets.

Variety’s review of the film read, “Overall, Can You Keep a Secret forges its identity as a serviceable romp for those who enjoy films based on postfeminism fiction.”

While reviewing the film, FilmWeek critics said “I’m kind of amazed that this movie still gets made today — it feels like a throwback to really vapid, perky late-90s romantic comedies, like something you’d watch while laying back on the couch with a cold or the flu.”
