We all know it has been a while since shootings have started for ‘The Witcher‘ season 2. As they are getting closer to the end, we have been watching every bit of detail impatiently. We even tried to produce new theories for the shows mostly to ease even for a little our thrill and wonders, I guess. And after their Christmas break, they are back on set again to continue filming. So, here are the news’ about the upcoming season and what we could have learned so far.

Henry Cavill recently shared on his Instagram account that he has finally recovered his leg injury. So he is already back for some time on his usual schedule which starts at 04:30 AM for his rehab. And other actors also have been posting that they are back at work, too. Triss Merigold and Istredd from season 1 are some of that names announced they were back. And upcoming season’s newcomer Paul Billion has also joined them. He will be playing as Henry’s witcher colleague Lambert at season 2.

So all crew is in their headquarters in Arborfield studios and they are all busy filming various episodes of season 2. Stephen Surjik will be directing episodes 1 and 2 and Louise Hooper will direct the 6th and 7th episodes of the show. I guess we might be able to assume these are the episodes they are currently busy with these days.

The list of visual effect studios working on The Witcher seems to continue growing in the second season. Rodeo FX and the Canadian Studio Mr. X  are the newest names on that list. Most of us already know the award-winning Rodeo FX from shows such as Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, and much more. And we know the Canadian Studio, Mr. X, especially from Vikings.

And other names we already know from having worked on season one of The Witcher are Cinesite, One of Us, Platige Image, George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic, The Third Floor, and Clear Angle Studio. Which those names, it’s also possible that the studio Nviz will also return for season 2 of The Witcher.

Where the special effects, music, and additional dialogue recording come into play, the focus will be on the footage filmed in last season to edit, complete, and perfect it more, it seems. So with these successful and efficient studios, we will have a visual feast more than ever. Yay!

The limited series will consist of six episodes that will take place in an elven world 1200 years ago from the world of The Witcher and will be about the origins of the first Witcher and the events that led to the conjunction of the spheres. And it has been announced that Jodie Turner-Smith will play Eile ‘The Lark’ Lithe on the upcoming prequel series. There is not much more information about the series yet but some rumors have been wandering around that Jason Momoa, who is known for Aquaman and Game of Thrones, was also offered a role in the series.

Guess we need to wait for more for Blood Origins developments.

Geralt’s most loyal and self-sufficient companion was Roach back in season 1, as we all know. He was portrayed by a Hungarian stallion named Zeusz. And now, we have learned that he is going back to his own land after winning the hearts of fans. So, Geralt will still start season 2 with his old buddy Roach. But at some point, it seems Geralt will have to acquire a new horse on the road. Yet, we don’t know what happens to old Roach. We only know Geralt’s new companion’s name will also be Roach, cause it is what he does always. Guess he doesn’t bother to think of new names or what so ever. Let’s just hope we won’t see old Roach’s leaving covered in blood.

So, you have already been hinted about some of the newcomers, and some of the ones who remain. But as The Witcher Season 2 closes to its completion, we still don’t know about some new characters’ players. Netflix is trying to keep things quiet as always. But last November, it has been revealed that Rebecca Hanssen was going to play Queen Meve of Lyria. And recently, it seems one of her colleagues has also been found. You got nowhere to run, Netflix!

Comedian Kernow King in Cornwall Edward Rowe will be playing as another king, King Helset. King Helset is the ruler of Kaedwen and he also known for books and games well. His warmongering tendencies and extreme views on racial equality will likely come across as a strong and frighten person for the ones who will be meeting him for the first time.

Season 2’s other confirmed actors are Ed Birch and Julie Barclay. But we don’t know who they will be playing on the series yet.

Normally, they were planning to end filming by February 2021 but that was before the second pandemic break. And there is also Henry’s injury and Christmas break right after. So if we consider how long these interruptions lasted, we can hope the date as March 2021 that filming to be done. And there is post-production as well, so if it will take six months or something, The Witcher season 2 will release around this fall near the end of 2021, we guess.

Nightmare of the Wolf is being developed by Studio Mir and was announced more than a year ago. Its rumors have been wandering around for far longer and we have been waiting since then. And now, we will finally see it in 2021 and we even know its official runtime: 1 hour 21 minutes. The story of Nightmare of The Wolf will revolve around Geralt’s mentor and father figure Vesemir. We will be watching his story and his youth.

So to sum up, as time flies we are getting more closer to Witcher Universe again. After The Witcher finishes filming, Blood Origin will enter pre-production. And this won’t last more than a few weeks. On the other hand, Nightmare of the Wolf will also be releasing later this year. So later of this year will be a feast for sure that we look forward to seeing for a very long time.
