<p>The <strong>San Diego Comic-Con</strong> trailer for Netflix&#8217;s upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman&#8217;s<em> The Sandman</em> featured the first appearance of fan-favorite comic book character<strong> Mervyn &#8220;Merv&#8221; Pumpkinhead</strong>. However, a new official trailer features Mervyn, whose voice is by none other than iconic<strong> Star Wars actor Mark Hamill.</strong></p>
<h2>An extended look at Mark Hamill as Mervyn Pumpkinhead in The Sandman</h2>
<p>Mervyn meets the primary character<strong> Morpheus (Tom Sturridge</strong>), nicknamed Dream of the Endless, who has been caged for over a century and returns to find his world, the Dreaming, in disarray.</p>

This irritates Dream, who wonders why Mervyn doesn&#8217;t just report to him. Mervyn then informs his supervisor that <strong>Lucienne has taken on several tasks in his absence.</strong></p>

<p>Mervyn Pumpkinhead was created by <strong>Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Malcolm Jones III</strong>. The character first debuted in <strong>Sandman #5, which was released in May 1989 under DC&#8217;s Vertigo Comics label</strong>. Mervyn is the <strong>Dreaming&#8217;s eternal, wise-cracking, pumpkin-headed janitor</strong>. He is occasionally disgruntled about his work in the comics, despite the fact that the enormously strong Dream could do it himself with little to no effort. Mervyn, on the other hand, is <strong>devoted to his employer.</strong></p>

<h2>Merv is a worthy addition to the show</h2>

<p>The appearance of Mervyn in the video is much more intriguing. The figure does not appear in <strong>The Doll&#8217;s House</strong> plotline in comic books. Mervyn, on the other hand, makes a lot of sense because he&#8217;s the <strong>Dreaming&#8217;s janitor, in charge of creating and dismantling huge areas of the oneiric realm</strong>. He assists Morpheus in keeping the place clean in order to accept the <strong>thoughts of the sleepers</strong>. Because the series has the opportunity to extend Gaiman&#8217;s universe, it&#8217;s fantastic to see them give canon characters more screen time.</p>
<p>Merv is a delightful character and for him to be played by Hamill is a treat for the fans. The <a href="https://www.netflix.com/title/81150303" target="_blank" rel="noopener">release</a> of <em>The Sandman</em> is mere hours away, and we can&#8217;t wait to watch the show and see what happens.</p>
