One of the most bonkers and brilliant shows on Netflix is The OA. The OA is a mystery sci-fi drama television series by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, which is their third project together. The show debuted on the streaming giant on December 16, 2016, and became immensely popular among viewers. The show has two seasons with eight episodes each, which explores a woman Prairie Johnson who appeared again after missing for seven years. Prairie has been blind since birth, but after returning she can see now and calls herself the OA.

The OA has received a fair amount of positive reviews from critics and audiences. The show has scored 84% in Part I and 92% in Part II on Rotten Tomatoes. As Thrillist explains about the show, “The sequence with Old Night is what The OA does best. At first, the scene is stunning, almost laughable, in its sheer oddity, but then the mood morphs, as it pulsates with existential terror and a sort of unnerving sexuality.”

What The OA on Netflix is about?

Season 1 introduces a woman named Prairie Johnson, a blind young girl, who was kidnapped seven years ago. After seven years, she has come back to her hometown with her eyes restored. While bonding with her parents in the hometown, she meets a bunch of young boys. She explains to them that her experience is real while traveling into dimensions and different time zones and resulting in life-ending experiences.

In conversation with the Associated Press, Brit Marling, who is co-creator of the show, claims that she had met someone like Prairie in real life. She explains, “She just seemed to be operating at a different frequency. When she told me she had a near-death experience — and described leaving her body and what she felt inside herself on the return — you understand why she felt like a person who was both apart from the world, but also more deeply in it.”

Now, let’s dig a little more details about season 3 of The OA.

Will there be a Season 3 of The OA?

Unfortunately, just after two amazing seasons, Netflix has canceled the third season by leaving the viewers in a cliff-hanging position. But, the actual plan as per the creators was that the show will release into five seasons. But the creators moved backward, as they even don’t want to conclude the series in a film as well.
