It seems Netflix has already renewed Virgin River for season 4 ahead of the third season’s release.

We know Virgin River recently announced the release date of the third season. It’s coming to Netflix on July 9th, 2021. Normally, we would expect Netflix to wait for a little to renew the series for a new season. However, it seems they have already renewed Virgin River for season 4, without publicly announcing it. The third season isn’t even out yet, but Virgin River is reportedly going to start filming season 4 this July.

This piece of news comes from the new issue of ProductionWeekly, which has a pretty good reputation. The filming of Virgin River season 4 is going to start on July 28th, and end on November 30th. Netflix has not made a comment on this yet, but they will probably make it public after the release of the third season. Better yet, they might just as well go ahead, as there seems to be nothing to hide now.

Virgin River is about a nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe. She finds herself a job in a remote town in California. After that, she moves away from Los Angeles to work there. Nevertheless, the small town Melinda moved to is not quite what she expected. She must learn how to heal herself before getting fully accustomed to the Virgin River. The story of Virgin River is based on the novels of the same name by Robyn Carr.

Currently, Virgin River has two seasons on Netflix, which have ten episodes each. Netflix is going to release the third season of Virgin River on July 9th, and it will have ten episodes, too.

The fourth season, well, will probably be on Netflix some time, but it does not seem soon.

The post-production processes of the seasons usually take around half a year, or less. If the report by ProductionWeekly is true, which most probably is, the crew is planning to finish filming by the end of 2021. Given that and the post-production process, we can expect Netflix to release Virgin River season 4 around summer 2022. However, there’s nothing official yet.
