February has been an exciting month for all of us with the good news’, which also includes arriving of the first Netflix Original starring Tom Hanks soon. And now, we are happy to share everything we have learned about News of the World including its plot, release date, casting, and more before its airing.
News of the World is an upcoming Netflix Original adventure-drama. It is based on the same-named novel by author Paulette Jiles. Paul Greengrass is the director and writer of the new movie. Playtone handles production, which started to run by Tom Hanks and producer Gary Goetzman in the late 90s.
What’s the synopsis of the ‘News of the World’ movie?
The Kiowa people have taken a girl from her aunt and uncle against her will years ago. And the story begins with a Civil War veteran Captain Kidd agreeing to deliver this girl, Johana. They will face grave dangers from nature and the evil of humanity together as they are traveling hundreds of miles to find a place to call home.
News of the World began filming in Santa Fe, New Mexico on September 2nd, 2019.

News of the World had already received a limited theatrical release back in late 2020 in the US and critics have been extremely well to the feature. And Hanks has described his character “News of the World” in one of his interviews as a driven and emotional storyteller.
“I love listening to a great story as much as I like telling one, and that’s why I was so excited about playing Captain Jefferson Kyle Kidd. He is moved by the pursuit of the truth.”
So it’s pretty exciting to be able to see the movie finally. News of the World will be available to stream on Netflix globally on Wednesday, February 10th, 2021. And its official runtime is 118 minutes.
