Ralph Macchio is ever ready for another Cobra Kai spin-off. Little did the child actor know that he would come back into the spotlight decades later to introduce the magic of Karate to newer generations. After all, it was the unique mix of culture and love for martial arts meeting the western world with the 1984 movie Karate Kid.

More than three decades later, it found its way to the modern OTT platform of Netflix through the Cobra Kai series. Despite the series being at its peak and garnering a big fan base, creators made a power move to end it on a high point. But the show only opened the gates for more possibilities, with one of them being another prequel spin-off.

Ralph Macchio explains what the Karate Kid prequel could be about

Karate Kid was initially made as a sport-based, inspirational movie targeting the younger audience. But no one could have guessed it would turn into an absolute legacy. It was not just about some fight scenes, but also about hard work and the bond between a student and a teacher. Martial arts teacher Mr. Miyagi is the biggest part of the franchise. Ralph Macchio, who was the student at the start of the franchise, recently revealed the idea of a prequel that will focus on Mr. Miyagi’s life and what led him to reach the point of his life portrayed in the movies.

There have been discussions, but nothing official”, Macchio stated as per Yahoo! Entertainment.

If a show focusing on the character is made, it would explore the personal and professional life of the coach. How exactly did he come out of World War II, losing his family and ending up as a maintenance man? As per Macchio, the late actor Pat Morita also wanted to explore further into the character.
